Culombus sets sail to the americas
In 1492, Christopher Columbus set sail to the Americas. He wanted to find a easier/shorter way to India. He needed to find the shortest way because that was who we traded goods with. They were tired of having to go so far to trade, so Christopher Columbus wanted to find a shorter way for them to get to India to trade. -
U.S declaration of independence is signed.
On July,4th,1776 the Declaration of Independence was signed. It was a statement which announced that all of the thirteen American colonies, then at war with Great britain, were now independent states, and were no longer a part of the British empire. We celebrate this important date on July,4th every year. We call this important date in history the 4th of july. People pop fireworks and have 4th of July parties. -
Louisiana Purchase is made
The louisiana purchase was the acquisition by the United States of America of 828,800 square miles of France's claim to the territory of Louisiana.The U.S paid 60 million francs ($11,250,000)and cancellation debts worth 18 million francs ($3,750,000), a total cost of 15 million dollars for the Louisiana territory. The Louisiana Purchase encompassed part of 14 current U.S. states and two Canadian provinces. -
Father Juan de las casa declares Texas independent from spain
On January 21st in 1811 Las Casas led a group of army sergeants to stage a coup in San Antonio. The following morning they arrested the governor of Spanish Texas, Manuel María de Salcedo, and his entire military staff. -
Father Hidalgo is exicuted
Miguel Hidalgo Y Costilla, also known as Father hidalgo, was exicuted on July 30 of 1811. He was a mexican priest and the leader of the Mexican War of Independence. He was captured on March 21 of 1811 but exicuted on July 30 1811. -

Battle of the Alamo occurs
On February 23rd in 1836, The Battle of the Alamo occured. It lasted until March 6th, 1836. The battle was a pivotal event in the Texas Revolution. Following a 13-day siege, mexican troops under president General Santa Anna launched an assault on the Alamo Mission near San Antonio de Béxar, (today known as San Antonio, Texas.) -
Anson Jnes is elected president
Anson Jones was 4th President of the Republic of Texas. He was elected president on December 9th 1844. He ran in office through February 19, 1846. -

Texas became the 28th state on December 29th 1845. James K. Polk is the man that signed the Texas annexation bill. When he signed the bill it was in the middle of spring. -
Compromise of 1850 is enacted
The compromise of 1850 was an intricate package of five bills. It was passed on September 4th, 1850. It defused a four year confrontation between the slave states of the south and the free states of the north. It avoided seccession or civil war at the time, and quited sectional conflict for four years until the divisive Kansas–Nebraska Act. -
