  • Chinese Exclusion Act

    Prohibited the immigration of Chinese laborers.
  • Sinking of the Lusitania

    German submarine sinks British ship, killing 1,198 and injuring 761. This was seen as an iconic symbol of the war and was used in campaigns in recruiting for the war.
  • Zimmerman Telegram

    The telegram that was a contract that stated that mexico would side with Germany if the US would enter WWI against Germany.
  • Sedition Act

    Extended the Espionage act of 1917 and covered a broader range of offenses.
  • 18th amendment

    The establishment of the sale, consumption and transportation of alcohol except for religious and medical practices.
  • 19th amendment

    Prohibits the denial of the right to vote based on basis of sex
  • John Scopes - The Monkey Trial

    A staged trial that brought publicity to the little town of Dayton, Tennessee and only served to spread the idea that evolution should be taught in classrooms.
  • 20th amendment

    Declares when federal government elected offices end.
  • 21st amendment

    This amendment repealed the 18th amendment which didn't allow the sale, transportation and consumption on alcohol.
  • Immigration Act of 1924

    Limited the number of immigrants that could enter the country to a limit of 2%.
