    Russia's 1st parliament, Duma, met and wanted Russia's government to be similar to Great Britains. The Czar at the time, Nicholas the second didn't like the proposal and dissolved Duma in under 10 weeks.

    After four million Russian lives were lost and/or wounded, Czar Nicholas the 2nd retreated from World War 1. After many years of gruesome fighting, Russia's people were left defeated, in debt, and dealing with a corrupt government.

    200,000 women textile workers went on strike to banish the autocracy. The soldiers were ordered to fight, but eventually the soldiers took the womens side, forcing Czar Nicholas the 2nd to step down from office, ending the long reign of the Romanovs.

    Lenin gained followers through his sly words, eventually leading his army, the Bolshevik Red Guards, to overthrow the existing government. After Lenin gained political power, he evenly spread Russia's farmland to the peasants and the control of factories to the factory workers.

    Russia surrendered to the Germans, losing land and enraging the Russian people. Many citizens opposed the Bolsheviks, so they created the White Army to remove the Bolsheviks from power. Civil War has commenced.

    The Bolsheviks fought the White Army for three years. Even though several western nations helped the White Army, including USA and Germany, the White Army could not overthrow the powerful Red Army. A total of 14 million lives were lost in the three years of fighting.

    After the Civil War, Lenin had to restore order in Russia and restore the dead economy, so he proposed the New Economic Policy. This policy let farmers sell their surplus crops and let some small businesses be privately owned.

    After Lenin made Russia a communistic country, he had a stroke and had to hand down power. While that all was taking place, Stalin slowly gained ranks in the communist party, gaining supporters as well. When Lenin finally died, Stalin was in full control of the Communist Party.
