On the eve of the Revolution
A rumor had spred in a walpaper factor saying that the boss was going to cut wages even through the bread prices were so high. The people became inrages and vandalized the owners home. rich people did not worry about little roits like these they thought that the government would take care of it. but soon enought all the underpaid, hungry, and unemployed people took up arms. -
Louis XVI calls the Estates-General
at the end of 1788, france tottered on the verge of bankrupcy. Bread roits were spreading and nobles fearful of the taxes denouncing royal tyranny. Louis didnt not sure what to do, called apon the Estates-General. -
Storming the Bastille
More than 800 Parisians assembled outside of the Bastille. The commander refused to let them in and opened fire on them. after a war breaks out and many people die, They finally brake through the gates and killed the commander and 5 gaurds. They also let alot of prisoners go. -
Revolt/National Assembly Acts
All night nobles in the National Assembly voted to end their own privileges. They agreed to give up their old manorial dues, exclusive hunting rights, special legal status, and exemption from taxes. -
Threats from abroad
After Louis XVI escape failed, it brought more rumbling from abroad. The King of Prussia and the emperor of Austria issued the Declaration of Pilnitz. This said the two monarchy threatned to intervene to protect the french monarcy. It may have been mostly a bluff but revoluationaries in France took the threat seriously and prepared for war with them. -
Radicals take over
Events in France stirred debat all over Europe. The people that followed the National Assemblys reforms applauded. They saw the French experiment as the dawn to a new age for justice and equality. -
Monarchy is abolished
A crowd of Parisians stormed the royal palace of the Tuileries and slaughtered the Kings gaurds. The royal family had just excaped in time before the mob got to them. They fled to the Legislative Assembly.
