Bread Riots in Paris
Since bread was the foundation of most peoples' diet during the French Revolution, bread price increases harshly hurt the poor. These riots were not violent, but often forced the bakeries to sell bread at a fair and reasonable price. -

The Estates-General had not met since 175 years before Louis XVI was the King. They finally met again to discuss the problems with the government while Louis XVI was ruling. -
Louis XVI is executed
During the years of Louis XVI's reign, he spent many tax dollars on things that didn't help the French people. This caused them to go deep into debt and the people of the National Assembly were not pleased. He was executed when the Revolutionists captured him. -
Committee of Public Safety Is Created
A committee is created under the rule of Maximilien Robespierre. They then executed many thousands of people that opposed the Revolution. -
Napoleon's Coup D'etat
During this event, Napolean Bonaparte takes over the government and becomes the emperor. He declared himself emperor, forcibly without the peoples' consent.
