Coast Guard (SPARS)
Named after the Coast Guard motto Semper Paratus and its English translation Always Ready. It was a Womens group like the WAVES. -
Marine Corps Women's Reserve
A Reserve unit in which women served for shore duty to take over jobs so men could be released for combat duty. -
Womens Medical Specialist Corps
The Army organized the Medical Specialist Corps in 1947. This was for women who worked in Military Hospitials or a Military medical field. -
Women in the Air Force
Women were allowed to join the Air Force. Some were allowed to fly and later all the planes were open to Air Force women. -
Military women are performing combat roles on land, at sea and in the air in Operation Enduring Freedom, Afghanistan and Operation Iraqui Freedom in Iraq.
Women were allowed on the front lines. and they were allowed to fulfill more action filled jobs in the Military. They could be in combat and fly air planes and do air attacks.
