help but the skilled communicator also needs to be aware of
the barriers to effective communication and how to avoid or

Language Barrier
On page 11 the book talks about Language Barriers.
Language and linguistic ability may act as a barrier to commu-
nication. Regional colloquialisms and expressions may be mis-
interpreted or even considered offensive. -
Psychology Barrier
The psychological state of the communicators will influence
how the message is sent, received and perceived. -
Physical Barrier
On page 12 the online health book talks about physical barriers.
An example of a physical barrier to communication is geo-
graphic distance between the sender and receiver(s). -
Systematic Barrier
Systematic barriers to communication may exist in structures
and organizations where there are inefficient or inappropriate
information systems and communication channels, -
Attitudinal Barrier
Attitudinal barriers to communication may result from person-
ality conflicts, poor management, resistance to change or a
lack of motivation. -
When I was texting a friend and got confused
I was texting one of my friends and we have very different personalities. That sometimes makes communication a little harder because you don't know the other persons tone. Whenever my friend and I are having trouble communicating by text the next time we see each other we clear the error and it makes our friendship better.
