When the delegates found the meeting hall locked and guarded they went to the 'Tennis Court' and took an oath. The oath was that they won't stop meeting til a new constituion is made. -
Storming the Bastille
The Third Estate is later known as the, National Assembly. The National Assembly meets in Versailles then storms into the streets of Bastille. 800 Parisians assembled outside the Bastille. -
Radicals Take Over
Englighten rules turned aganist France, Catherine the Great burned Voltaire's letters. August 1791, Kind of Prussia and the Emperor of Austria ( Marie Antoinettes brother) issued the Declaration of Philnitz. In Paris, sansculottes (working class men and women) pushed the revolution into more radical action. In 1791, sansculottes demanded a republic government were they could choose and decide representatives. The French revolutionaires and Eurpoean went to war from 1792-1815. -
Spread of Nationalism
People started taking pride in France, it was a nation in arms by 1793. Troops started marching to Marseilles to a new song. "La Marseillaise" became the national anthem. State schools were set up to replace religious school and tohelp the poor old soliders and war widows. The government abolished slavery in France's Caribbean colonies.
