    In 1870 African Americans got the right to vote. Before then African American didn't hatve the right to do anything really. This would add to the total votes and make the election process harder cause you would need more votes.

    For more than seven decades women would gather and protest for the right to vote. They march with posters in many different states. Eventually, they were given the right to vote in. This would also add to the total amount of votes.

    Jennings Randolph is also for changing the voting age to 18. Randolph is a democratic representative from West Virginia. He has pushed to change the voting age the whole four decades he was in the house.
  • Georgia

    Georgia was the first state to change the voting age. The state changed the state and local and state and not the federal. This was still a step forward to changing the voting age.
  • Military Proposal

    Military men come up with the idea that they are old enough to go to war they should be able to vote. Newly elected president Dwight D. Eisenhower was all in for showing the voting age changed to 18. Eisenhower said that since the men ages from 18 to 21 have been fighting for our country they should be able to participate in the election process.

    Congress is now able to change the voting age to 18. But they can not change the voting age for individual states. So individual states would be able to choose if they wanted 18 year old to be able to vote or not.
