Medical college
the Female Medical College of Pennsylvania was established because women were not allowed to attend "men's" medical colleges and banned from memberships to the American Medical Association. Eventhough nursing was considered a female occupation most nurses in hospitals were men. -
National Women's Sufferage Association
Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton form the National Woman Suffrage Association. The main goal of the organization was to achieve voting rights for women by adding an amendment to the Constitution. -

Colorado
Colorado was the first state to adopt an ammendement giving the women the right to vote. -
NAWSA
The National Women Suffrage Association and the American Women Suffrage Association merge to form the National American Woman Suffrage Association (NAWSA). As the movement's mainstream organization, NAWSA wages state-by-state campaigns to obtain voting rights for women. -
WTUL
The National Women's Trade Union League (WTUL) is created to work on and improve wages and working conditions for women. -
federal amendment
Alice Paul and Lucy Burns form the Congressional Union,they worked toward the passing a federal amendment to give women the right to vote. They later renamed themselves the National Women's Party. They picketed the White House and practiced other forms of civil disobedience. -
Women Sufferage Amendment
The federal woman suffrage amendment was introduced to congress. It was originally written by Susan B. Anthony .It is passed by the House of Representatives and the Senate. It is then sent to the states for ratification. -
19th Amendment
