  • Assassination of Franz Ferdinand

    Assassination of Franz Ferdinand
    Franz Ferdinand was an Archduke of Austria and also the Royal King of Hungary and Bohemia. The assassination of Ferdinand was planned by seven young Bosnian Serbs on the day he drove along the main road of Saravejo. However, plans were changed as the conspirators failed in the beginning but ended up with Gavrilo Princip pulling out a gun and shot him to death. This was important because it gave Austria an excuse to attack Serbia and it led to the Great War.
  • The October Revolution

    The October Revolution
    The October Revolution was the second phase of the Soviet Revolution. In the middle of the Great War, Lenin and Bolsheviks lef their revolution with the ideas of Marxist communisum behind them. They took over the government and burst into the Winter Palace in St. Petersburg. This action would lead to the demise of the royal family and the birth of the USSR. This enabled them to take advantage of the fierce conflicts and strengthen and organise its own forces.

    In 1920, The 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution was ratified. It prohibited discrimination in voting based on sex. One hundred and forty-four years after the birth of the republic, American women were given the right to vote. It was a giant step in the women’s civil rights movement of the 20th century.

    Alexander Fleming was studying influenza where he noticed that mould had acidentally developed in a set of culture dishes being used to grow the staphylococci germ. The mould created a anti bacterial circle around itself. He named this active substance Penicillin. This accidentally discovery has made a huge impact during World War II as it helped reduced the number of deaths and amputations of troops.

    The Great Depression was a severe economic depression. It all started when there was a Stock Market Crash in October 29, 1929. The stock market loss $14 billion, making the loss of the week $30 billion. It took 23 years for the stock market to hit the high it was at before the crash. Those who were wealthy had lost everything and people lost their jobs. Many were homeless and suffered diseases. This was significant because it ended prohobition and improved the economic system of the US.

    The attack on Pearl Harbor was a surprise military strike by the Japanese againts the United States naval place, in Hawaii, on the morning of December 7, 1941.This was truly, as Roosevelt predicted, a day which has lived in infamy. This made USA enter war as they had not declared any war before then.The results of the World War II could have been different if USA had not so propelled to enter the war.

    The Battle of Normandy lasted from June 1944 to August 1944, resulted in the Allied liberation of Western Europe from Nazi Germany's control. D-Day was the Codenamed Operation Overlord of the battle that began on June 6 1944.It required a lot aof planning for the invasion of the largest amphibious military assults in history.D-Day was significant because it was the turning point of World War II.It marked the start of the Allies' invasion of Western Europe and paved the way for an Allied victory.

    It is the mass murder or genocide of approximately six million Jews during World War II, a program of systematic state-sponsored murder by Nazi Germany, led by Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party, throughout German-occupied territory. This is an important event because it facilitated the occupation of Palestine and legitimized it in the eyes of the West. It also accounts for why Israel today is so defensive.

    The United States dropped atomic bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August 1945, during the final stage of the Second World War. Without the Atomic Bomb being dropped on this day, the Second World War would have not ended and civilizations would continue to bring up thousands of conflicts.

    e Vietnam war was a battle between the Democratic Republic of Vietnam and Repiblic of Vietnam. This was a successful attempt to unite and impose a communist syster over the entire nation. The war occured during the Cold War, which was viewed as an indirect conflict between the United States and the Soviet Union, The Vietnam War was important because the tension came afterwards, that if one country became communist, other countries would fall into communism.

    John F. Kennedy was assassinated on November 22, 1963 as he rode in a motorcade through Dealey Plaza in Downtown Texas. JFK's assassination was the start of such government chicanery. That has been continuing and accelerating for 50 years.

    A massive demonstration on democratic reform, bugun on Tianmen Square by Chinese Students in April, 1989, which was brutally repressed on June 3 and 4, 1989. It was initiated to demand the posthumous rehabilitation of former Communist Party Chairman Hu Yaobang. The Tianmen Square protest gave a long lasting impact on the democratic progress in China. However, due to the democratic participation, this gave a hope for more liberal concepts.

    The Berlin Wall was a wall that divided West Berlin and East Berlin from 1961 to 1989. It was the symbolic boundary between democracy and Communisim during the Cold War. This was a significant event to the Berlin people, because it allowed them to escape to a better life apart from the communist rule. The East would not have to suffer countinuing downhill economically, spiritually and politically. It also marked the end of the Cold War in Europe.

    The 11 representatives of the Soviet republics had a meeting in the Kazakh city and declared that they would no longer be part of the Soviet Union. They declared that they would establish a commonwealth of Independent States. This signaled the end of the Cold War between the Soviet Union and the United States.
