    Aviation and flight
    The first airplane to take flight was in December 17th,1903 by the Wright Brothers. Orville Wright had successfully flown the plane for 12 seconds at a length of 120 feet. In August 27th, 1939, the first jet plane took flight in Germany, which was tested by Erich Warsitz and designed by Hans von Ohain. The jet plane was shortly used in WWII when Germany invaded Poland.

    Xinhai Revolution
    The Xinhai Revolution took place in China which lasted from October 10, 1911, to February 12, 1912. This revolt was so that people would overthrow the imperial rule of China and made the government system the Republic of China.
  • Sinking of the RMS Titanic

    Sinking of the RMS Titanic
    The RMS Titanic crashed onto an iceberg in the North Atlantic Ocean in the early morning. The luxurious and so-called 'unsinkable' ocean liner was considered the most expensive and perfect cruise ever built in the world, and carried 2,200 people.
  • Atomic bombs in WWII

    On 6th August 1945 to 9th August 1945, Two atomic bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki respectively. They were dropped by the United States as an attempt to end the war in the Pacific.

    The Cold War started shortly after WWII ended and was a war of tension mainly between the United States and the USSR. The two countries wanted to have a war, but because of how many destructive nuclear weapons each country had, and if they used them, the entire world would be destroyed. So the Cold War was just a tension between the countries.

    The Vietnam War ended the division of Vietnam. It was the communist government of the North against South Vietnam and their ally, the United States. More than 3 million people (including over 58,000 Americans) were killed and the U.S withdrew, leaving the North to take over. Due to the Japanese Occupation in WWII, The north were inspired by Chinese communism and fought off the Japanese. Their leader, Ho Chi Minh, took over Hanoi and declared a Democratic Republic of Vietnam (DRV)

    Interaction with space and planets
    During the 1960's, it was a time where humans were able to further investigate the outer space. Yuri Gagarin was a Soviet cosmonaut which was the first person in the world to fly to space.
    In 1969, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin were the first people to land on the moon.
    In 1963, the first woman to fly into space was Valentina Tereshkova. She was sent by the USSR on a spacecraft called Vostok 6 for 48 hours.
  • Assassination of American President John F. Kennedy

    The 35th American President, John F. Kennedy (known as JFK), was shot as he rode in a motorcade (a series of cars)
    The killer was Lee Harvey Oswald, who embraced Marxism.
  • Tiananmen Square Massacre

    Tiananmen Square Massacre
    AT least 10000 people were killed by a Chinese army unit. Army vehicles ran over civilians at 65kph, and opened fire at people too.
    The army vehicles ran over the people time and time again, and their remains were hosed down the drains.
    The reason behind all of this was because people gathered at Tian An Men Square to demand democratic reform of the government instead of Communism.
  • Fall of the Berlin Wall

    Fall of the Berlin Wall
    West Germany had a wall that surrounded it, separating it from East Germany. The wall was called the Berlin Wall., and was built during 1961. The wall was demolished and fell on November 9th 1989, and thus the reunification of Germany began after the wall fell.
