    On this date, the Japanese Navy attacked the American Naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Japan's goal was the prevent the United States from interfering with Japan's military activities in Southeast Asia.     Maureen Rauguth was born in 1943 at Saint Lukes hospital.
  • Mother died

    Maureen's mother died when she was only five years old in 1948. She doesn't remember much but the sadness filled through out the air.
  • Gandhi Assassinated

    Gandhi inspired movements for civil rights and freedom. He was an Indian activist who was against the British rule. In 1947 the British granted independence for India.     Maureen's first day of school was when she was five years old in 1948 because there was no K4 classes. She went to Holy Ghost Catholic school which is now named Holy Spirit.

    Dwight Eisenhower became president in 1952 until 1961. He was the 34th president of the united states of America who also served in the military from 1945 to 1948.     The first color televisions went on sale in 1953, but many americans didn't enjoy it because the prices were so high. It cost $1,295 which is the same as $12,008.89 today.     The Vietnam war started in 1955 and ended in 1975. America went into Vietnam to stop communism from spreading. We failed to do this because there was no public support, it was hard to identify the enemy because they were blended in with civilians, and the government promised the war would end soon, but it didn't.     Maureen's first job was in 1958 when she was 15 years old. She received $2.50 for cleaning houses all morning. According to the Inflation Calculator $2.50 is like $21.56 now.

    In 1960, four black college students sat in a whites-only area. The waiter had told the students that they wouldn't serve them, but they didn't move. A policeman came and walked back and forth hitting his stick but did not do anything.     Tiros 1
    Tiros-1 was the first weather satellite launched by the U.S. It was launched at 6:40 am in Cape, Canaveral Florida. This was also during the cold war another way to get ahead of Soviet Union.     Maureen go her second, but more or less real job when she turned 18 in 1961. She started working at Gimbles only for the Holiday, but then she decided to continue.
  • Married

    Maureen had gotten married in 1963 when she was 20 years old. She married Benjamin Jasso at Saint Helen's Church. Her name was then changed to Maureen Jasso.
  • President John F. Kennedy Assassinated

    President John F. Kennedy Assassinated
    President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in 1963 by Lee Harvey Oswald in Dallas, Texas. After JFK was killed, Lydon Johnson became the new president. Jacqueline Kennedy was sitting right next to John when he was shot, she tried to hold john's head together.     Maureen's first child was born in 1964 at Saint Michael's hospital. Benjamin and Maureen named him Jeffery Jasso.
  • Second Son was born

    Maureen's second child was born one year later after the first in 1965 at the same hospital, Saint Michael's. He was named Steven.
  • Martin Luther King Jr. assassination

    Martin Luther King Jr. assassination
    Martin Luther King Jr. was a civil rights leader for African American rights. He led peaceful protests and had gotten laws passed for equality. Martin was an inspiration to many, however, on April 4th of 1968 he was assassinated by James Earl Ray while Martin was standing on a porch.
