It is hard to say whether or not all of the discoveries and inventions of this time were used for forensic science, however, these discoveries played an important role in establishing the forensic sciences that we use today. these discoveries and inventions include prehistoric cave drawings, Babylonians finger printing on clay tablets, ancient Greek lie detector, roman autopsies, the book "The Washing Away of Wrongs." -
Traite Des Pisons
Mathieu Orfila publishes "Traite Des Poisons" which was revolutionary for the time. The book focused on identifying poisons that could have been used in a crime. -
Tissue Tests
Tissue tests could prove whether or not arsenic was used in a murder. -
Big leap
In the early 1900's scientists discovered that one could use body heat to determine when someone died. Around this time, finger prints were used for Identification. -
Polygraph Test Invention
The portable polygraph test was invented. This test was used to prove whether or not a person was lying. -
Gunpowder Residue
Tests were invented to prove whether or not someone had gunpowder on their hands. This was critical in finding murderers. -
Modern Forensics
Modern Forensics mainly includes DNA Tests and Internet Forensics. Though science has brought us far, there are still gaps in our knowledge when it comes to Forensics.
