    Intel, a newly formed company, invents a new chip called the "Dynamic Access Memory (DRAM)" which paved the way for RAM and short term storage for computer codes.

    While the floppy disk was actually invented in 1967, I chose to write it as 1971, because this is when the floppy disk was first shipped out and introduced to the public. IBM, another computer company, produces a disk that can pass information from one computer to another.

    While the floppy disk was a way for two computers to share information between each other, the Ethernet cable was a way for two computers to directly communicate with one another. Made by Robert Metcalf, a worker for the company "Xerox".

    The first computer with only one circuit board was created by Apple: Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak. This was the first computer that was geared more towards homes and was easier and more convenient to produce.
  • 1978 - VisiCalc

    1978 - VisiCalc
    This invention was that of the spreadsheet. A program typically used by accountants to calculate and store their information. This turned a casual hobby piece of technology into a business tool, which in turn has helped automate most mathematical calculations.
