  • Pong

    Pong
    Pong was the first video game many people played at the time. It lead the way for many video games to hit the arcades. Computer microprocessors were very expensive at the time so the arcade game used all TTL Logic. Allan Alcorn built Pong for Atari as practice when first working there.
  • Altair 8800

    Altair 8800
    Altair 8800 was the first commercially successful personal microcomputer designed by MITS. The computer also came in a kit form so it was popular among electronic hobbyists. The computer used switches and lights to program, enventually a basic language was written for the Altair 8800 and could be used with a monitor enventually.

    The Apple computer was created by Steve Wozniak as part of his computer hobby, his friend Steve Jobs convinced him to start a company to sell the computers. For the time the Apple I was user friendly and was intended for home users and meant to be used with a keyboard and monitor. Not many were sold but it started the Apple computer company.

    The Apple II became the most popular computer at the time and was used in homes, schools and businesses. In alot of ways it set the tone for the basis of what a computer should be and how a user friendly experience was important.

    Atari 2600
    The Atari 2600 was the first largely successful home gaming computer that was able to bring an arcade experience home into peoples living rooms. The Atari 2600 became possible because computer microprocessor chips finally came started to come down in price and even then the Atari 2600 costed more than $800 in todays money.
