    Light Emitting Diodes
    Light Emitting Diodes, also known as LEDs, were originally experimented with in 1907, but didn't have a stable version until 1962. It wasn't very good for lighting, but further versions of LEDs made more colors available. LEDs are now used for many things, including in computer screen displays.
  • The First Computer Mouse

    The First Computer Mouse
    A computer mouse is one of the most important pieces to computers in our day and age. In 1967, Douglas Engelbart created the "X-Y Position Indicator for a Display System", which eventually became known as a mouse.
  • The First Internet Sent Message

    The First Internet Sent Message
    The first internet sent message was supposed to be the word 'LOGIN', however only two letters got typed before the internet crashed.
  • Dynamic Random Access Memory

    Dynamic Random Access Memory
    RAM was around before this, but it was inefficient and took up a lot of space in the computer. Robert Dennard was the one who spent the time to redesign the RAM to allow it to be more productive, take up less space, cost less, and provide more memory.
  • UNIX

    UNIX was an operating system that was created by a group of AT&T employees, and was extremely popular and powerful for it's time. UNIX was based on MULTICS, a similar project that had failed to come to fruition. Ken Thompson, Dennis Ritchie, Brian Kernighan, Douglas Mcllroy and Joe Ossana were some of the crew that developed the UNIX.
