First Video Tape Recorder

1951

Charles Ginsburg invented the first videotape Recorder. This device would take live images from the recorder and was stored on magnetic tape.

First Commercial Transistor Radio

1953

Regency TR-1 was created by Texas Instruments. It was the first transistor radio. Consumers were able to listen to news, music and live sporting events.

FORTRAN

1954

Created by IBM, FORTRAN was the first computer language standard. It was a leading invention into modern day software.

First computer hard disk was used.

1956

Created by IBM. It was the first commercial hard disk computer and was named RAMAC.

First Microchip Invented

1959

Jack Kilby and Robert Noyce worked for Texas Instruments and created the microchip. They started with creating small electronic circuits.
