    this was the first time a numerical limit on immigrants was set. This act prompted the visa process that started in 1924, which we still use today.

    Nine Black males were accused of raping 2 white women, although there was clear evidence that this did not happen, and one of the women admitted it never happened, there was still prejudice in the south and most of these boys were sentenced to death
