1921-1941

  • Warren G Harding becomes president

    Harding was the 29th president of the United States. He created and won the Revenue Act of 1921 which cut taxes on the wealthy down a lot.
  • Emergency Immigration Act

    Established a quota of immigrants based on their country of origin then would only allow 2% of immigrants from one each country live in the US.
  • Lindbergh crossed the Atlantic

    He was the first man to fly across the Atlantic without making a stop by himself. The flight took 14 hours and 25 minutes which was a record at the time of the flight.
  • Herbert Hoover becomes president

    Was Americas 31st president and before that he served int he cabinet. His famous quote was, “Freedom is the open window through which pours the sunlight of the human spirit and human dignity.” When Hoover was president the economy and the citizens of the US fell into the Great Depression.
  • Stockmarket Crash

    The stock market went down for 4 days, leading up to the Great Depression. During the 4 days that the stock market went down the market dropped by 25%.
  • Gold Standard was terminated

    The US went off of the gold standard because of the constraints it placed on the government. President Nixon was the president in which terminated the act.
  • WWII begins

    Germany invaded Poland, and in return Great Britain and France declared war on Germany.
  • Attack on Pearl Harbor

    The Japanese attacked the military base in Hawaii which destroyed and damaged 20 American ships 8 of which were battleships, it also destroyed 300 airplanes. They also killed 2,400 Americans some of which were civilians, and injured another 1,000. The day after the attack President Franklin D. Roosevelt asked congress to declare war on Japan.
