    Prohibition
    From 1918-1922 the government banned the purchase and selling of alcohol. It was banned because it was causing social problems. People were doing under the table selling of alcohol, bootleggers and moonshine became very popular. In 1923 the doors swung open for legally sold alcohol. In America their laws were stricter for alcohol and they were on prohibition from 1920-1933
  • Spanish flu

    Spanish flu
    The spanish flu hit Canada from 1918-1920. There was a quarantine and there was no vaccine or cure for this yet. It came in multiple waves, the first wave came in the spring of 1918, then the fall of 1918, the spanish flu was horrible and caused dieseses that were very easy to spread. The second wave caused 90% of the deaths that occured. When the government failed to help they involved the Department of Health.
  • Bloody Saturday

    Bloody Saturday
    People went onto strike but it is now known as bloody Saturday. The government arrested some of the labour leaders in order to try and shut down the strike but it didnt work. Police were racing around winnipeg trying to shut the strike down. People were getting more angry. The police and the hired union busters went to shut it down but instead injured multiple people and killed 2.
