  • The Eighteenth Ammendment

    The Eighteenth Ammendment
    The 18th ammendment was ratified on January 16th, 1919. This ammendment banned manufacture, sale, transport, import, or export of alcoholic beverages. Later, on December 5th, 1933 this ammendment was repealed and no longer banned alcholic beverages.
  • Louis Armstrong

    Louis Armstrong
    Louis Armstrong had performed with a lot of different music groups. During the 1920s, Louis was one of the most well-known musicians in both New York and Chicago.
  • 19th Ammendment

    19th Ammendment
    The 19th Amendment was ratified on August 18, 1920. It stated women the right to vote and gave to women the same power and control that men had, although still held back by the values of the day.
  • Sacco- Vanzetti Trial

    Sacco- Vanzetti Trial
    The Sacco- Vanzetti Trial was held for Bartolomeo Vanzetti and Nicola Sacco for attemping robbery and murder in Bridgewater, MA. Sacco and Vanzetti were sentences to death, although there was no proof that they committed the crime. The result of the trial was the first time people realized corruption in American government. Also people realized the court systems were against immigrants.

    Baseball's World Series was on the radio for the first time. New York Giants beat the Yankees, five to three. America was affected in the 1920's in a positive way because families cam all together.
  • Scopes Trial

    Scopes Trial
    John Scopes, a school teacher, was arrested for breaking the law of teaching evolution. It led America to believe and teachings of the evolutionary theory.
  • Babe Ruth

    Babe Ruth
    Babe Ruth was an american icon in baseball. He was on of the best players of all time. He was the most loved athlete in America. He had 54 homeruns in the year 1920.
  • Herbert Hoover was elected

    Herbert Hoover was elected
    President Hoover was elected vs. Al Smith. A few months after he was in office, the stock market crashed and thus the Great Depression.
  • Black Tuesday

    Black Tuesday
    "Black Tuesday" means or is known for the worst day in stock market history. Stock prices dropped because of no one selling nor buying stocks in the market. This led to the Great Depression
  • 21st Ammendment

    21st Ammendment
    The period in the United States history when the manufacture, transportation and sale of alchohol is illegal is called prohibition. On December 5th prohibition was lifted and there was no longer a ban on alchol, the 21st ammendment. People were affected by this contriversal peice.

    Dust Bowl
    Huge dust storms came through these Great Planes, named the "Dust Bowl", this dust bowl destroyed crops and made living extremley difficult. The Midwest suffered econimically very badly.
  • Finished Hoover Dam

    Finished Hoover Dam
    The Hoover dam is 1,244 feel long and 726 feet tall. It was one of the largest man-made structures in the world at it's time. The Hoover Dam prevents flooding and irrigation to dry parts of states. Without this various cities in the West and Midwest would not be the size they are today.
