    McKinley Assasinated
    President William McKinley was shot by Leon Czolgosz at the Temple of Music, on grounds of Pan-American Exposition, Buffalo, New York. He did not die immediately, but eventually died of gangrene from the wounds.

    Due to McKinley's death his vice president Theodore Roosevelt was sworn into office as president. He became the 26th president in office.

    This was a progressive reform passed in legislation that regulated the quality of food and the way it was handles for the protection of the consumer. This came about because of the public reading the book the Jungle, and while Sinclair hoped to reform things, he had meant for it to be for the workers.

    Triangle Shirtwaste Factory Fire
    A fire broke out in Greenwich Village in the neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City. Due to the lack of safety precautions taken by the factory 146 worker died, the majority women. This was one the deadliest industrial disaster in history.
  • Amerca's Entry into WWI

    The United States entered into the war two and a half years after the war had begun on July 28, 1914, and declared war on Germany. The United States entered because of the ideals of aiding people in the means of democracy and had been roused by Germany sinking Lusitania and the Zimmermann Telegraph. Wilson tried to keep the peace, but was eventually brought into the conflict to eventually bring peace.

    The peace treaty that ended the state of the war between Germany and the Allied powers. It was the end of "the War to end all Wars" and eventually led to the crisis and conflict of World War II.

    The 19th amendment was passed and it gave the women the right to vote. The amendment prohibits the states and federal government from denying a citizen the right to vote on the basis of sex.
