Woodrow Wilson went before a joint session of Congress to request a declaration of war on Germany. This was the result of Germany sinking many American merchant ships. -
19th Amendment
This gave the women more power such as the right to vote. "The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex."
