Many factors like the sinking of the US Lusitania and economic involvement pushed for the US to join. Wilson stated to congress that they needed to declare war on Germany to protect the world and make it safe for democracy. -
Treaty of Versailles
This treaty ended WWI, in which Germany and the central powers were forced to take the blame, lost a lot of territories, their military was reduced, and they paid for damages. It also started the League of Nations which Wilson mentioned in his famous Fourteen Points, but the United States rejected and never joined. -
