  • Missouri Compromise

    Missouri Compromise
    The compromise made it to were Missouri would become a slave state and Maine would become a free state to make the number equal. This caused a huge argument, but they finally agreed on halving the U.S. into slave against free. Even though this had helped, everyone knew that this wouldn't be the last time we hear slavery V.S. antislavery.
  • Kansas-Nebraska Act

    Kansas-Nebraska Act
    Alexander Stephens wanted to make the new states, Kansas and Nebraska, slave states, but the Northern Whigs declined. When Alexander passed the act instead, the Whigs party was devastated. This resulted in "Bleeding Kansas", which meant that pro slavery supporters revolted against the antislavery supporters, then burned their houses down.
  • Battle of Chickamauga

    Battle of Chickamauga
    The battle was the biggest battle in Georgia, it was between Union wanting to defend Chattanooga, Tennessee because the Confederates wanted to takeover it. When the Confederates tried to take Chattanooga, the Union came back and fought back, then won. They sent them back to were they belong, and kept Chattanooga a free city for once and for all.
  • Andersonville

    Andersonville
    The Andersonville Prison was a confederate place to dump large numbers of Union prisoners in Southwest Georgia. Because of poor sanitation and overcrowding, hundreds of Union prisoners lost their lives to either starvation, diseases, or being stepped on.
  • 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments

    13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments
    The 13th abolishes slavery, 14th declares all people true citizens, white or black, and 15th states that all people are allowed to vote. (except women) These amendments caused these things caused Black Codes, this was a way for pro slavery citizens to find a gateway around the law, but not be breaking it at the same time.
  • Ku Klux Klan (KKK)

    Ku Klux Klan (KKK)
    The KKK originated in the South and their main goal was to terrorize blacks freedom, and Kill/humiliate African Americans as well. This went on for years, but when the next election came and being caught several times, the KKK slowly faded away.
