On the evening of Spetember 12, 1991 around 8:34 p.m. little Vanessa Lynne McWhirt was born into this world. She'd later be known as the coolest 90's kid evah! -
Social Ranking - Bill Clinton
Arkansas Govenor, Bill Clinton announces he will seek the 1992 Democratic nomination for President of the United States. -
Social Patterns - Vanizzle's first Christmas
This was my first Christmas. I'm assuming my Mom probably got one of those stickers saying "Baby's first Christmas" or something rather lame like that. I can't remember it at all, but I probably got baby blothes and those binki's and what not. All around Christmas was the shit. Presentsssssssssssssss! -
Patriotism - President George H. W. Bush
On a Wednesday, George H. W. Bush becomes the first President of the United States of America to address the Australian Parliament. Go YOU! -
Taboo - Mike Tyson
On a Monday Mike Tyson goes on trial charged with raping a 1991 Miss Black America contestant. -
Cultural Integration - Friends
Friends premieres on NBC. -
Social Control - I went to schoolage
My elementary school For days on end I attend Westridge Elementary. It was very dull and boring, but I learned everything I needed to know. I got the basics out of the way such as: addition, subtraction, mulitplication, and division. I told myself that was all I needed to know to survive. I was right! I loved field day by the way. I kicked ass at the shoe kick. -
Performance - Embarrassment
I don't remember the day, but I do remember the incident. I was in my art class and she had this rule where you can't talk or do anything while she's speaking...so she was talking and I had to pee really bad so I raised my hand, but she ignored me and all of a sudden a puddle of yellow substance appeared around me. I peed my pants, but what was I supposed to do? -
Cultural Univserals - Parents Divorce
By this point my parents have been married for a good 10 years-or-so, but my Mom's fed up with my Dad's bullshit, lying and cheating. So they filled for divorce. I was six-years-old and didn't know what was going on. My Mom told me that her and my father didn't love each other anymore. I have never seen her that happy in my entire life before. So instead of sharing similar or basic practices they got their independency back and freedom. -
Agents of Socialization - Adolescence (School) - Middle School
From 2003-2005 I went through hell at Summit Ridge Middle School. I was on team Green both 7th and 8th grade. I remember my teachers and how Mrs. Davis always had to pee due to her pregnancy. Mr. Ballester's nipples always showed through his shirt which was gross and Mr. Scott always flirted with Ms. Edison. But, these two years I joined Destination Imagination (DI) which was freaking awesome and when I became a "woman" as well. I also wanted to fit in so I started wearing make-up. -
Freud - ID, Ego, Superego
When I was a wee little girl I loved Barbie's. Being a child I did not care what people thought of me (ID) so I played with them in my room, my bathtub, etc. When I got older and went into Middle School, Barbie's weren't cool anymore so I had to stop playing with them so I could fit into the norms (Superego), but I've kept some still and will always remember the days where I played with them. (Ego) -
Naturalist vs. Behavorist
Throughtout high school you meet new friends and change your ways and yourself to fit in, I obviously did the same. I believe I'm both of these kinds of people. I think your personality always starts out as a naturalist, but when you get into the world it changes due to people around you and your environment. -
Income - Across the Universe
Uncle Teddy: Because, Maxwell, what you do defines who you are.
Max: No, Uncle Teddy. Who you are defines what you do. Income plays a very important role on defining who someone is. The more money you make the better job you have. -
Deviance - doing drugs
On this night I went to a party, which is out of the norm for me, and I wanted to impress my boyfriend so I tripped acid, which is also out of the norm for me, and obviouisly was a retard for doing this to impress a boy. Way to go, I know. -
Crime - Expulsion
I got expelled from school for selling drugs which resulted me being handcuffed and sent to jail to take pictures and set up my criminal record. GREAT night that was...NOT! -
Stigma - labeling
Everyone labels someone as something (Stereotyping), but in this case I was labeled as a criminal for selling drugs at school and everyone else called me a dumbass or a retard. But, hey what can ya do when people are jerks. -
Containment Theory - selling drugs
This contains the push-and-pull factor. I could have resisted from selling drugs at school if only my inner containment (inner voice) spoke louder and told me what I was doing was going to end up in a bad decision. -
Stereotypes - high school
High School iswhere major stereotyping occurs, but yet again it happens everywhere. At school there's the jocks, the popular girls, nerds, goths, etc. In the world as a whole there are terrorists, racists, pedifiles, etc. You can't escape people judging you, it's just something that's bound to happen. -
Upper Class
Who says money can't buy you happiness? The upper class of the world could definitely defend this. They're greedy rich people who want more and more money even though they have enough already. Actors/ Actresses don't need $1.5 million to make a movie; doctors should receive $1.5 million for saving a life. The President of the United States doesn't even make as much money as Actors or athletes. That's bull if you ask me. Yes, we need our entertainment, but not for that much money. -
Status Symbol
This is the day where our lives begin. All seniors of Dakota Ridge High School will graduate and move on with their lives. Valedictorians will be announced (Richard Dowell and Anna Neubert), the honor students will rise up and show off their colored ropes around their necks, and then the normal kids won't be noticed unless their parents are there to scream for them. Social Staus/Ranking/Symbol defines who you are. The higher you are on the list, the more important you are. I am 159 out 377 at DR
