In the constution of 1777, Vermont became a state free of slaves as it abolished slavery, being the first state to do so. Vermont became admitted in the union in 1791 after living as a free republic, but still kept a slavery ban for their independent state. -
Society/Indian Removal Act
This act was used by President Andrew Jackson to remove Indians from the west side of the Misississippi river so America can make use of the land for their own homelands. Although the act was supported by the majority of the south, Christian missionairies and future president Abraham Lincoln were against the act. -
Slavery/Pennsylvania and the Antislavery Movement
The Quakers became the first group to oppose slavery in America, and they decided to act on it. Slavery altogether disappeared but nationally, slavery was still and issue and many states fought against Pennsylvania's movement. -

The Seneca Falls Convention was the first time that women were allowed to openly address their wants for equality in public, as it was not allowed for women to speak out. The meeting had 6 sessions and lasted 2 days and marked the beginning for women's rights to evolve. -
Slavery/Abraham Lincoln abolishes slavery
Abraham Lincoln won the 1860 election of the United States of America in which he allowed no more slave states. This act eventually lead to the Civil War between the North and the South over the issues of slavery; -

The constitution of 1776 established a rule of safety and became the first state constitution. This document provided an assembly and a supreme executive council instead of a single governor.
