    British chancellor Townshend introduced this act, which enacted duties on colonial goods. This furthered the divide between colonists and the British.

    Proclamation of 1763
    reserved all the western territory between the Allegheny Mountains, Florida, the Mississippi River, and Quebec for use by Native Americans, which halted western expansion and took away the colonists' claim to land. Because of this the colonists were angry.
