    South Carolina and North Carolina split
    The Lord Proprietors thought that the Carolina territory was too big to be one territory. The main reason for their split was because their main cities were too far apart.
  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    The French and Indian war, also called the Seven Years war, started in 1754. It began as a dispute between France and England over who had claim to the Northern part of the Ohio River. Eventually the dispute made its way over to the colonies, where fighting continued between the French’s Native American allies and the British Colonists.

    The British and American colonists defeated the French and their Indian allies.
  • Stamp and Quartering Acts

    Stamp and Quartering Acts
    These acts were the beginning of the road to revolutionary war. The colonists were very angry about these acts because they were not represented at all in parliament, they had no input in what taxes were being put on them.
  • Boston Massacre

    This was the first bloodshed of the Revolutionary War. it is unclear what happened. There was a lot of noise and gunshots, and five colonists were dead or wounded.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    The colonists were furious about the taxes on the colonies, with the tea act being the final straw. Many colonists climbed onto a british ship and dumped thousands of dollars worth of tea off the edge of the boat into the water.

    The beginning of the revolutionary war. There were battles in Lexington and Concord Massachusetts between the British and American soldiers.

    The Declaration of Independence was a list of reasons why the colonists felt that they could leave the British Empire. 56 people signed the Declaration of Independence.
