Dutch Purchase Manhattan
The Dutch purchased Manhattan in 1626 from a group of Native Americans. The Dutch paid 60 guilders for the land and since then approximations of that price in dollars have been all over the place. -
Quakers arrive in New England
Quakerism first emerged in England and in 1656 the first group of them arrived in the colony of New England. (Couldn't find the exact day) -
King Philip's War
King Philip's war began in 1675 and was fought between the King's army and Native Americans. Many local colonist joined the King's ranks and fought for him, but afterward were very unhappy with their service. -
Philadelphia is founded
The city of Philadelphia was founded in 1682 and would later be a major hub of revolution and American History.
