  • James town

    James Town was founded in 1607. This is when 104 English men, who were funded by Virginia, arrived in America to start a settlement. This was the first permanent settlement in North America. It was named after King James. This site is important because it was picked so they could defend themselves from Spanish attacks using the water surrounding it.

    This would be the first representative house in America The House of Burgesses would be established and assembled in Virginia. This would model what colonies would be shaped liked.

  • The First Slaves In America

    This is when the Dutch brought over only a few slaves that would start slavery in America in 1619. This is significant because after this slavery would boom.

    This was when Massachusetts Bay was founded by 1000 Puritan refugees from England.

  • The first Navigation Act was Passed

    This was when a series of laws were enforced to restrict England's trade to English ships. These were acts by Parliament to promote self-sufficiency, and to decrease need on other imported goods.

    William Penn founded Pennsylvania in 1681. King Charles had granted him a charter for over 45,000 dollars.

    This was when there was a revolution that over through King James the Second for political and religious reasons. He was replaced by his daughter and her Dutch husband.

    This was a war between france and England. They wanted to see who would have control over the trade of fur. King Williams's war was the first between the french and the indians.

  • Salem Witch Trials

    This is when the Salem Witch Trials occurred in Massachusetts. Around 200 people were accused of practicing witchcraft and a few of them were killed.

  • Bacons Rebellion

    This was a rebellion led by Nathaniel Bacon. Kinds of Bacons Rebellion was an armed rebellion in 1676. This rebellion caused things like the decrease in tobacco prices and higher prices of English manufactured goods. This rebellion was against Governor Willian Berkely.
