On June 1st 1867 Canada was founded. The Canadian Confederation was signed which made the british colonies a country. Canada is a Constitutional Monarchy. John A. MacDonald was elected Canada's First Prime Minister. Canada has grown to one of the strongest countries today. -
Lacrosse Is Invented
In 1869 Lacrosse was invented William George Beers. Lacrosse is a sport where teams battle to get the ball into the opposing teams net with their long handled sticks. The Sport was played in the St. Lawrence Valley by the Algonquin Tribe. Lacrosse has shot up in popularity in recent years and is Canada's official sport. -

Peanut Butter is Invented
Peanut butter was invented in 1884 in Montreal. Pharmacist Marcellus Gilmore Edson patented "Peanut Paste". Peanut paste derived from milling roasted peanuts. Peanut paste was used to feed people who couldn't chew solid food. The food was bought by the Kellogg Brothers in 1895 and has become a very famous food all over the world. -

Basketball is invented
In 1891, Canadian born Doctor James Naismith invented the game basketball in Springfield Massachusetts. He Invented the game as a means of keeping his loud and rowdy gym class under control with a safe game. He took the bottom out of a basket and put it up high, thus inventing the game of Basketball as we know today. The invention of Basketball has changed the lives of many and is one of the biggest sports in the world. -

The Canadian Navy was created on May 4th 1910. During the first years of the First World War, the Canadian Navy patrolled the west and east coast of North America to deter the German naval threat. Many of the Ships in the Naval fleet were named after Canadian Cities. The Canadian Naval Fleet is one of the strongest in the world. -

In 1932 Superman was invented by Joe Schuster. The Canada born artist had loved drawing since he was a kid and would take paper from the garbage just to draw on. Him and American Writer Jerry Siegel created the character back in 1932. Superman, over the years has become one of the most recognizable superheroes and one of the most recognizable characters in pop culture. -

The St. Lawrence Seaway is a system of Locks and Canals that permits Ships to travel from the Atlantic Ocean into the great lakes. Legally, the Seaway extends from Montreal, Quebec, to Lake Erie and includes the Welland Canal. The Seaway travels through the St. Lawrence River. The St. Lawrence Seaway allowed many ships to travel to the great lakes, which made transporting goods much easier -

In 1962 Hawwaian Pizza was invented. It was invented by a pizza shop owner in Chatham, Ontario. The pizza was invented by Sam Panopoulos and his brother. Hawaiian Pizza has grown to be popular worldwide. -
