    By landing on America, Columbus showed Europe that America existed. This would be the first step to opening up trade to other nations.

  • First European Settlement in Canada

    This was extremely important to Canada, as it would show people what Canada could someday be like. This settlement was established by french explorers Pierre de Monts and Samuel de Champlain.

  • First Official Fur Trade

    The first fur trade in North America was with the French and the Native people. It was officially a fur trade in 1608 due to the founding of Quebec.

  • Hudsons Bay company is founded

    By Being founded, the Hudsons Bay company provided alot of trade. This trade showed the world the products that North American could provide.

  • Canada's First newspaper appears

    By havig a newspaper, news of everthing can be spread much more quick and accurate. This newspaper could even let people find out whats going on outside of Canada, giving them a better view of globalization.

  • 7 Years' War

    The Seven years' war took place between 1756 and 1763. It involved most of the great powers of the time. This war affected Europe, North America, Cenral American, the West African coast, India, and the Philipines

  • First railroad in Canada opens

    The first railroad in Canada runs from La Prarie to St.John's, Quebeq. This lets new travel at a faster speed.

  • BNA Act

    The British North American Act passes the british parliment, uniting the former United Provinces (Quebec and Ontario) plus Nova Scotia and New Brunswick into a new self-governing colony, the Dominion of Canada.

    The British North America Act takes effect, and John A MacDonald is inaugurated as the first prime minister of Canada

    Britain and the United Stated sign the Treaty of Washington, solidifying peace bewteen their nations and removing all remaining british troops from North America.

    These treaties stop the bloodshed, and as such allow trade between Native American and European people.

    This was the first world war. also know as the great war, it ended on November 11, 1918.This is significant to Canada as it was a major war that we participated in.

    This was the second global war. It lasted untill 1945, although related conflicts began earlier then 1939. This was extremely significant as it resulted in an estimated 85 million people, both military and civilian.

  • Free Trade Agreement

    This agreement phased out a large range of restrictions in trade between Canada ands the USA. This greatly incresded the amount of trade bewteew the two countries, allowing new things to be spread more easily.

  • North American Free Trade Agreement

    This trade agreement was signed by Canada, Mexico, and the United Sttated, creating a three way rule based trade bloc in North America.
