Rosenburg Trial
The Rosenburg's were communists who lived in the US. They made a plan to pass on the instructions for the Manhattan project ( the nuke). They got caught doing this but they had already passed on the plans to the russians. They died by eletric chair June 19, 1953 and many people debated about how harsh this punishment was. -
Korean War
North Korea invaded South Korea in hope to over throw its goverment. The US made a plan to send troops to aid the South Koreans. War went on for 2 more year while peace talks were taking place. More soliders died each day when these peace talks were taking place. -
Warsaw Pact
A treaty that had most of Eastern Europe nations in a military command under Soviet controls. Albania, Bulguria, Czechoslovakia, East Germany, Hungary, Poland, Romania, and Soviet unions signed the treaty in May 1955. Albania, Poland, Hungary, East Germany, and Czechoslavakia all due to peacful revolutions. -
Vietnam War
The US took place in this war that lasted the longest in the history of the US history. North Vietnam planned to over throw South Vietnam. The US and South Vietnam tried to stop them but failed very badly. The US helped any nation againts communist nations in war said president Truman. The war finaly ended in the year 1975 almost making it a 20 year war. -
1st Man In Space/ Sputnik
The Soviet Union lauched Sputnik 1 into space being the first man made object in sapce. It was the First artifical Satellite. In 1961 the Soviets launched there first man in to space. -
U2 Spy Plane
Eisenhower was a spy for the US in Russia manning the U.2 spy plane. He took pictures of the U.S.S.R. for 4 whole years. He crashed and the Sovites captured him. On May 15 the summit conference began. The president of the U.S.S.R. demanded a apology but Eisenhower refused to make one. The president was so angry he cancelled the US president to visit Eisenhower. -
Bay of Pigs
JFK was the president at the time of the invasion of the Bay of Pigs. Cuba seized millions of dollars of land America owned in Cuba. Cuba became a communism state very soon after Castro became president. April 1961 the US attacked Cuba know as the Bay of Pigs. They failed on the attack and made Castro control even more powerful then before. -
Berlin Wall
It was ordered to be put up in August 13th 1961 because of the fleeing Russians. More people escaped befor the wall was built but not all did esacape. More then 170 people died trying to get over the wall by border patrol guards. In 1989 some parts of the wall was being taken down because of the relationships between the two nations. -
1st man on the Moon/ NASA
Saturn V is about to be launched in to space by the US. Apollo 11 is where the space men go to for the blast off. Neil Armstrong, Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin, and Michael Collins are the astronauts who will ride in Apollo 11.
