Walter Releigh comes to the New World
In 1585 Walter Raleigh and 100 men came to the New World. They arrived and settled in Roanoke Island. Since they arrived late for harvest, they left a year later. -

Walter Raleigh hired Simon Fernandez to bring 100 men and women over to the New World. The group settled in Roanoke. John White and Raleigh left Roaoke to go back to England to get supplies . When White came back everybody is gone and the word "CROATOAN" was carved nearby. -
Jamestown Established
Jamestown was America's first permanent colony! John Smith was the leader and helped build Jamestown. Jamestown had the first elected assembly called the House of Burgesses. -
House of Burgesses Established
The House of Burgesses was established in 1619. It was the first elected assembly. -
Oceanus Hopkins Born
In 1620 over 100 people people were crammed in a ship called the Mayflower, only one baby was born named Oceanus Hopkins. Oceanus was named Oceanus becuase he was born on the ocean. -
Pilgrims Settle at Plymouth Rock
The Pilgrims planned to settle in Jamestown but a storm hit and caused their ship to go off course! They landed at Cape Cod and then traveled across Massachusets Bay to a harbor called Plymouth. There sat a gianormous rock so they named it Plymouth Rock. -
Mayflower Compact
The Pilgrims devoloped a way to keep order and devolope laws, this was called the Mayflower Compact. Thr Mayflower Compact was the very first written constitution in the New World. -
First Thanksgiving
The first Thanksgving was held by the Pilgrims, they invited Squanto, Chief Massasiot, and ninety Wampanogs. The celabration lasted for three days! -
Puritans Arrive in the New World
In 1630 the Puritans came over to the New World. They wanted to reform the Church of ENgland and they thought it was a good idea to start in the New World. -
Pennsylvania Established
Pennsylvania was originalally going to be called Slyvania! William Penn later on called it Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania had freedom in their colonies becuase of WIliam Penn.
