Nazi Invasion
The Nazi invasion was also known as the September Campain or Defensive War. The Nazis and the Soviet Union invaded Poland. The invasion lasted for one month. After that, Germany and the Soviet Union split. -
Directive No. 6, (Plan Yellow)
Adolf Hitler issues War Directive No. 6 describing the invasion of France, Holland and Belgium. This was known as Plan Yellow. -
Soviet Union Expelled
League of Nations expels the Soviet Union for agression against Finland. The League went against the Covenant and voted the Soviet Union out without having the majority of votes. -
Roosevelt Re-elected
President Roosevelt elected to a third term. His third term was focused on World War II and the United State's involvement. During this time, Japan attacked Pearl Harbor after which Roosevelt gave his famous Infamy speech. -
Pearl Harbor
Japanese launch surprise attack on U.S. fleet at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, on the morning of December 7, 1941. The attack was intended as a preventive action to keep the U.S. from interfering with military actions the Empire of Japan was planning in Southeast Asia. -
Star of David
Hitler orders that all Jews over the age of six in Europe must wear a Star of David on their clothes. This was a method so Nazi's could identify Jews. -
Battle of Midway
The most important naval battle of WWII. The United States Navy defeated an Imperial Japanese Navy attack against Midway Atoll, inflicting irreparable damage on the Japanese fleet. -
D Day
D-Day, the Allied invasion of Normandy, France was also known as Operation Overlord and Operation Neptune, during World War II. The operation was the largest amphibious invasion, with over 160,000 troops landing on D-Day. 195,700 Allied naval and merchant navy personnel in over 5,000 ships were involved. -
Battle of Warsaw
This battle was a major World War II operation by the Polish resistance Home Army, to liberate Warsaw from Nazi Germany. -
Atomic Bomb!
The United States dropped the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan in 1945. This bombing was the first of two, the other one being on Nagasaki, Japan. These two events are the only active deployments of nuclear weapons in war.
