Charles I of England
Charles I of England had many problems with the parliament of england.Charles believed in Divine Right of Kings and unwilling to compromise with the parliament of england. Many of his English subjects opposed his actions, in particular his interference in the English and Scottish Churches and making taxes without parliamentary consent. This is significant because this began the conflict with the parliament and led the english civil war

Fight with the parliament
Charles I of engand real dufficulties was he constantly needed money for his high lifestyle.Charles had to go to the parliament to get the money. When he wanted to create a tax the parliament would agree but if agreed to respect parliament wishes. He usually lied and tried to find a way to rule without a parliament.Charles scheme partly woked but needed more money, he called the parliament for money they refused. Why it is significant because this fight shows the power of the king is going away -
Petition of Right
The Petition of Right is a major English constitutional document that sets out specific liberties of the subject that the king is prohibited from infringing,The Petition of Right is significant because it gave more right to the parliament and less to the king, which made Charles angry and led to the English Civil War -
Members of Parliament Arrested
In March 1629 Charles arrested nine members of the Commons for offences against the state, three were imprisoned. Charles more unpopular. This made the the parliament angry and dislike the king for his actions which also led the the war. -
Oliver Cromwell
Oliver Cromwell was elected to Parliament for the second time. He openly criticised Charles taxes and the level of corruption in the Church of England.Cromwell was one of the commanders of the New Model Army which defeated the royalists in the English Civil War.Why he is important is because he wanted a more free country with right for people and defeated the royalists in war -
Long Parliament
Charles had to have money to pay for an efficient army which could defeat the Scots, but he had to agree to the parliament's demands which included an Act which stated that parliament should meet once every five years and the arrest for treason of Strafford. Why it is important because parliament more power and led to the civl war. -
English Civil War
The English Civil War was about armed conflicts and political machinations between Parliamentarians and Royalists. At the the end of the war the parliamentarians won and this event is important because it led to Charles the frist trial and execution. -
Rump Parliament
The Rump Parliament is when all members of the parliament in favour of negotiating with the King had been expelled and Rump Parliament gave parliament the right to make new Acts of Parliament without the king's approval. This is important because it is a atep closer to a more free and rightful country and gave the parliament the power not king. -
Trial of King Charles
King Charles was tried for treason Charles was found guilty and sentenced to death. This inportant because it ended the miss being created by Charles and a chage in law without Charles -
Glorious Revolution
The Glorious Revolution was the overthrow of King James II of England in 1688 by English Parliamentarians with an invading army led by the Dutch stadtholder William III of Orange-Nassau.
