The Bastille represented royal authority and this was exactly what the French people wanted to rid themselves of. The people feared that King Louis XVI was planning a counter revolution. The French freed 7 prisioners and teared down the Bastille; they thought of this as a victory. -

It was the first written constitution in France. The Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen became the introduction of the constitution itself. -
Louis XVI and his family were arrested while trying to flee from France.
He was tried for treason for fleeing the country to seek the help of other European monarchs to help overcome the revolution and restore France. -

The fall of the directory causes the end of the French Revolution.
The Directory had power of the French state for about four years until Napoleon and The consulate took over. The consulate was the first government between the fall of the directory and Napoleon taking power. -
