The Beginning of Saint Valentine's Day
The legend states that Saint Valentine was a priest in ancient Rome. Claudius II thought for some reason single soldiers are better than married soldiers, so he banned marriage to single youg men. The priest was outraged at this fact and secretly held weddings for lovers. The king found this out and put him in jail. There Valentine fell in love with the jailer's daughter and wrote her a letter concluding "From Your Valentine" before he died. -
