The Petition of Right sets out specific liberties of the subject that the king is prohibited from infringing. The Petition is most notable for its confirmation of the principles that taxes can be levied only by Parliament. -
English Bill of Rights
The English Bill of Rights was a re-statement in statutory form of the Declaration of Right which was presented to William and Mary earlier that year. It invited them to become joint sovereigns of England. -

The Virginia Plan was notable for its role in setting the overall agenda for debate in the convention. -
New Jersey Plan
The plan was created in response to the Virginia Plan's call for two houses of Congress. The less populous states were adamantly opposed to giving most of the control of the national government to the larger states.
