1.1. The Beginning

  • 2.1 Oxidative Damage

    2.1 Oxidative Damage
To minimize/reduce oxidative damage, the best time to start that is at birth and better yet, in the mother's womb. To help prevent free radicals from entering the body, I'll invent a miracle pill -- one that will have all the antixodiants and have the ability to block out any unnecessary sunlight and pollution of all kinds. This little pill is to be taken by the mother while the child is the womb, and this pill will only need to be taken once and its effect will last for all of eternity.
  • 4.4 Childhood Attachment Experiences

My parents were always in proximity, provided a safe haven and secure base. My parents were always there for me -- one them always stayed home with my brother and I (proximity), provided a safe haven (we always had our necessities met and more), and a secure base. They were quite supportive of my personal goals -- I did sports growing up and they paid for it, drove me to practices, and cheered me on. I'm happy I have that kind of relationship with them. I l really lucked out.
  • 6.3- Identity

I already experienced this stage (starting at age 14) and am still experiencing this stage. I know which religion I'm affilated with, which gender identity I have, etc. I am still on the fence when it comes to my occupational identity since I want to do it all. Matthew Fein: His teacher came from a family that practiced methodist, but she was not deeply religious -- she now practicies jewish with her jewish husband and daughter. She has a religious identity.
  • 1.1 The Beginning

In the eyes of the government, I became an adult the day I turned 18, but I truly feel I became an adult at 21 -- which is when I first moved out of the nest and moved to a small remote town several hours away because I craved adventure and independence. It was also the year where I got my first full-time job working as a behavioral aide. I learned how to be completely self-reliant. Being an adult meant learning to be responsible for myself, as well to others.
  • 7.2 Transitions

I've always regarded myself as an agnostic theist, but am open to exploring other faiths. I moved out at 21 to a small hippie town to attend college and explore my freedom outside home. Pick one of the experience from the list that you have had in the past. The transition I experienced was conformist to individualistic -- (intentional and unintentional activities) -- I read about other faiths, met friends who were of other faiths, and explored other faiths before settling on my faith.
  • 7.3 Major Life Event

I gave birth to my daughter at home in California. I opted out of a hospital birth because I had a low-risk pregnancy and wanted to be in a familar setting. I coped by having a support system in place at the time of my labor/birth: my fiance, mom, midwives, and interpreter who is also the godmother of Violet. It was definitely effective because they motivated me to keep pushing even though the pain became almost unbearable. I received emotional and social support.
  • 2.2 Genetic Limits

    2.2 Genetic Limits
I would inject a virus derived from the DNA of turtles (if I can succesfully find and kidnap a galapagos tortoise to bring back to the United States for the selfish purpose of extending my lifespan) into my bloodstream making me a turtle-human mutant, but I would be able to accomplish what many have attempted, but failed at -- immortality or at least, close to it.
  • 2.3 My Current Healthy Lifestyle

    2.3 My Current Healthy Lifestyle
My lifestyle is fairly healthy, but there's always room for improvement. I answered yes to all EXCEPT for the following: eat 3-5 servings of veggies per day and use sunscreen consistently. As someone who used to religiously slather sunscreen on, I've refrained from wearing sunscreen (due to questionable ingredients in most sunscreen products. I'm still on the hunt for the perfect sunscreen). In the meanwhile, I limit the sun exposure I receive. I'd like to start eating more veggies (I need to!)
  • 4.3 Adult Attachment Style

My scores were attachment-related anxiety- 1.73 and attachment-related avoidance- 2.56. My internal working model secure attachment. I have secure attachment with my parents, significant other, and friends. I have a small social network, but know I can depend on them and they can depend on me. My fiance and I are available, responsive, and supportive of each other's needs -- the same applies to my relationships with family members and friends. I have a secure base with my parents.
  • 7.1 Fowler

Individuative-Reflective -- Most peers of my age are at this stage. I chose this because I identity as a unitarian univeralist -- not belonging to a specific religion because I'm an agonistic theist. I have accepted I believe there is no god, just a higher power. I've rejected my family/relatives' catholic faith since I was a teenager. Most of my friends, at this point, are unitarian univeralists or very accepting of my and others' faiths.
  • 6.4- Conscientious

I am already at that stage. I've valued achievement, responsibility, and have long-term goals and expectations. Datrell Scott- His father was previously married to another woman and had 3 children, and he became a father again at 48 with Datrell's mother/his 2nd wife. He took on and valued the responsbilities on being a father and a committed husband. This stage started at 22 for his father when he start considering long-term goals, one of which was to go to college -- which he did.
  • 6.2 Super’s Stages

I chose exploration as one of Super's five stages. I am 24 and still in that "exploration" phase. I could either settle on my intended goal to become an ABA therapist or become a RN by going to a different college after receiving my B.A. from Gallaudet. I would like to have my career preference decided by the end of this year.
  • 6.1 My RIASEC type

My RIASEC type is ISC (investigate, social, and conventional) -- the careers that best fit me are: registered nurse, pharmacist, etc. The figure on pg. 208 is absolutely accurate of my type(s) and the corresponding personal trailts. I have always planned on becoming an applied behavior analysis therapist, but have had some interest in becoming a RN -- this would require additional academic work and admission into a nursing program. The ABA therapist position is similar though.
  • 4.1 Young Adult Role Transition

    4.1 Young Adult Role Transition
I expect to take our relationship to the next level -- from a cohabiting couple to a married couple. Every marriage encounters challenges, our obstacle to getting married is our lack of time and finances. I expect to experience this transition at a typical age since I'm 24 and engaged, soon-to-be married. I cope by knowing this is a short-term obstacle, and know I'll be able to reap the benefits of martial selection effect and martial resources effect in a few years' time.
  • 2.4 Potential Consequences of My Lifestyle

If I don't maintain my lifestyle and make the necessary changes, I'm in danger of chronic conditions such as arthritis and especially, cardiovascular disease (#1 killer for women in developed nations). I need to adopt a better diet and incorporate veggies in my diet while eliminating unhealthy fats from my diet. I also need to become more physically active on a regular basis by walking at least 30 minutes per day -- doing so will help me lead an active lifestyle instead of a sedentary lifestyle.
  • 4.2- Older Adult Role Transition

    4.2- Older Adult Role Transition
I expect to experience the empty nest syndrome ("postparental") since my child(ren) will be between the ages of 18-22. I expect to experience this transition at a typical age because I had my child(ren) at a typical age. Challenges I would expect is finding something to do, other than parenting. I would confront this challenge by seeking out new interests/hobbies, enchanging my marriage, etc .
  • 3.2 Working Memory

I would expect my working memory to be on the decline in my seventies because according to the class textbook, "performance declined with age, along with long-term memory and speed of processing. Declines were sharper, however, for tests of working memory." (Bjorklund, 2011, page 110) I can work on improving my capacitiy by repetition. Consistently practicing on several tasks will and should help me expand and improve my capacity.
  • 8.1 The End

Marisa Jones, born in 1989, left us on May 2, 2067 after a skydiving incident. She will be met in the afterlife (if there is one) by her husband, Don Cullen. She is survived by her daughters, Violet and Victoria Cullen. She was a devoted wife, mother, and friend. She devoted her life as a nurse working in the pediatric unit at Frederick Memorial Hospital and loved to travel all over the world with her daughters and grandchildren. She will be sorely missed.
  • 3.1 Procedural Memory

I would expect my procedural memory to start declining at about this time, at age 85. The diagnosis of Alzheimer's is steadily increasing so the likelihood of getting diagnosed with Alzheimer's is higher. If that occurs, I would probably forget to take my meds, pay important bills, and struggle with getting important tasks done. I would compensate by setting reminders for myself and hiring a home aide (if necessary).
