The survey will determine the interest and preparedness of the staff and will be accompanied by a description of the upcoming 1:1 iPad initiative.

Summer professional development courses will be structured to provide further instruction on components of pedagogy and technology related to the 1:1 program.

Department representatives will receive an iPad and will undergo training on its use. They will receive guidance on how to contribute to the roll-out of the program.

Ongoing through December 2012: Departmental representatives will be encouraged to experiment with the technology and try as many new strategies and approaches as they feel comfortable doing. Ongoing training and meetings will occur to share observations and best practices before expanding the program.

The teachers in each department that had been working with the iPad for the last several months will briefly share their experiences with the rest of the staff. All staff members will receive an iPad and will use the remainder of the day for training activities. Teachers in the initial cohort will receive classroom sets of the machines.

Monthly department meetings will begin at this point. The initial meetings will have a common theme, and will be designed to benefit teachers in all disciplines. Department representatives will continue to lead discussions. Administrators will begin conducting informal observations to evaluate the impact of the program.

At this point, teachers have begun to select learning options that reflect their disciplines and needs from a range of choices.

Each department will develop an action plan and set of department objectives for full implementation during the following school year.

All staff and students will have access to an iPad for use in the classroom.
