Herbert Hoover Takes Office
When he was elected, he told America that this Depression will soon be over. When it wasn't comming to an end, people started to blame Hoover for the depression. They named the shanty towns "HooverVilles", empty pockets were "Hoover Flags", and the newspaper blankets were "Hoover Blankets". -
Father Coughlin Attacks FDR, Jews
Coughlin initially supported FDR, but turned against him after the New Deal. he favored a guaranteed income and the nationalization of banks. many people supported him, but he lost a lot of his support because of his anti-Jewish views. -
The Dust Bowl
A big drought occured in the great plains. So the soil became dry and loose causing dust storms. This made farmers move west. -
Reconstruction Finance Corporation
The RFC authorized up to $2 billion for banks, life insurance companies, railroads, and other large buisnesses. -
The Bonus Army
The Bonus Army were veterans from WWI. Between 10,000-20,000 men came to Washington D.C. to stay in the capital until they got their bonus paid to them that they were supposed to get. -

FDR created the New Deal while he was in office. He was elected to four terms as President. -

During the Great Depression Germany was hit hard. So when Hitler was appointed Chancellor, many people turned to him for help. He then created the Nazi party. -

This Act secured the rights of Native Americans. it allowed them to continue their native culture and traditions lost to government expantion. -

During the Great Depression, Franklin D. Roosevelt created the Social Security Act. The Act gave financial aid to Americans in need. -

The UAW came into GM and tried to get the owners to recognize the worker's rights. When they refused, workers went on strike. They went into the plant, shut everything down, and had a sit in until they got their rights. -
Rape of Nanjing
The Japanese were capturing a city named Nanjing. It was a mass murder because thousands of civilians were killed. 20,000 women were also raped. -
The Grapes of Wrath
It was a novel written by John Steinbeck. It was about the lives of Oklahoman's who left the Dust Bowl and ended up in California, where their hardships continued.
