  • Herbert Hoover takes office

    Herbert Hoover takes office
    Herbert Hoover became the 31st President of the United States. He was a Republican and was later blamed for the Great Depression even though it was not entirely his fault at all.
  • The Dust Bowl

    The Dust Bowl
    This was a time when several severe dust storms hit many states in the great plains area as well as in Canada. After a dry spell the high winds carried away most of the topsoil in the area and caused a major geographical change in the areas that the storms hit.
  • RFC

    RFC
    The RFC or the Reconstructed Finance Corporation was created by President Hoover to give banks, rail roads, and other buisnesses money. This was later continued with FDR's New Deal.

    About 50,000 vetrans marched on Wasington D.C. to try and obtain the bonuses that they were promised from the government. An army later ran them out of their campsites that they created and about 55 vetrans died.

Soon after he got rid of the democratic system in Germany and became a dictator as well as start the idea of natzism.

When the radio show began he was in favor of FDR but he began to criticize him as well as become known as an antisemitic because he harshly attacked many Jewish bankers.     This occured in China at the capitol, Nanjing, and lasted for 6 weeks.During this time 20,000 to 80,000 women were raped and hundreds of thousands of people were murdered.

    This novel was created during the great depression by John Steinbeckset. It focused on the hard times of poor farmers during the dust bowl.

    Neutrality Acts
    The U.S. passed a series of acts to help our country stay nuetral and not help out other countries during times of war. Although these laws were pased the government continued to break the law and sell goods and weapons to other countries.However, Roosevelt spoke out later that he felt it was impossible to stay nuetral and that these laws could be broken.
