  • Plessy Vs. Ferguson

    The court came to the decision that Segregation was legal, If the segregated parties were given equal rights and facilities.

  • Cumming Vs. Richmond

    The cumming family was one of three families that had children in the only black school in richmond county. The school closed and the families were forced to go without education because the court decided that if a black was in an area without a black only school, that they would have to do without an education.
  • Buchanan Vs. Warley

    The court ruled that the segregation of housing was unconstitutional and removed from effect in Louisville, Kentucky
  • Brown Vs. Board of Education

    The outcome of Brown Vs. BoE abolished segregation in schools across America. This did not affect Other public areas that were segregated.
  • Civil Rights Act of 1964

    The civil rights act of 1964 outlawed any segregation or discrimination against african american, along with women. It also equaled out the voting policies against blacks.
  • Voting Rights Act of 1965

    This voting rights act made it so blacks would more accepted into the voting facilities.
  • Civil Rights Act of 1968

    This act prohibited any refusal and/or discrimination against anyone, based on race, color, or religion, while looking to buy, rent, or sell any housing or buildings.

    The supreme court decided it was time to start breaking down the barriers of segregation.
  • civil rights act of 1991

    In 1991 President Bush signed the civil rights act of 1991. This made existing civil rights stronger and provides for damages in cases of race discrimination in work places.

    The supreme court ruled that race may be a factor in the decision to accept an request into a college or any type of school.
