    Peter Minuit comes to New Netherland
    He was sent to New Netherland to search for tradable goods other than animal pelts which was to common where he came from. He was then appointed to become the new govenor general of New Netherland.

    The Swedish build 3 forts and then the Dutch over take them and New Sweden turns into Delaware.

    England takes over the colony (New York)
    England sailed into New York with an overwhelming force of ships and men. The leader of the Dutch had wanted to fight back but the dutch settlers were tired of his commanding rules and welcomed the British rule. The leader of the Dutch had no choice but to raise the white flag in surrender.

    The king was very good friends with William Penns father and when Williams father died the kind decided that he would give Williams family land in America as respect towards the death of their father.

    The king wrote William Penn a charter, which is a legal agreement, about giving him land in America. The king also appointed Penn as the Govenor of Pennslyvania.

    The Walking Purchase was a deed the William Penn had written out that called for a sale on lands "as far as a person could walk in a day and a half."

    The french wanted to take over English territory and had sided up with some of the indian tribes because they had also wanted the English to leave. The french ahd made countless promises to the indians on how they would be nicer and more civil to them, more then the english had, and they believed them. The English then fought back.

    A certain indian chief, Pontiac, was upset with how many indians had turned from their traditional culture, so he got three other tribes and started attacking the settlers and forts to make them all leave. It did not last long though because the soldiers that were there were better equipped then the indians.

    Colonists decided to send delegates to a meeting to discuss what action should they take against England. They had come to this conclusion because so many of the states were fighting about what they should do so they decided that they should all meet so they could figure out what to do.

    The delegates decided to write out a Pennslyvania State Constitution that would have all of there laws filed down on paper.

    The Army was at its lowest point that they could be when they were stationed at Valley Forge. Washington had wanted to turn their desperate situation into a positive one, so he had made a French alliance and that the French would help them win the war. The soldiers were full of hope.

    John Fitch had convinced Philadelphia investors to back up a project to build steamboats for transportation.
