  • The Tennis Court Oath

    Third estate of France made up of 98% of France meets alone instead of with all three estates. They met in a tennis court in versiles to make a plan. They agreed to not separate until the French had a constitution. I think this is important because they finally broke free and started making real decisions for France.
  • The Storming of The Bastille

    Residents of Paris learned the French military was marching towards Paris. They decided to storm a prison in order to get weaponry to protect themselves. This made the king withdrawal troops because of the populations new strength. this is important because it shows the French population putting their foot down against the king.
  • Abolition of Feudalism

    After this law was passed peasents didn't have to pay taxes to the church. They also took power away from the first and second estates. They made equality of laws of punishment. This is important so presents are being less taken advantage of.
  • Declaration of the rights of Man and of the citizen

    First declaration of France was created. Gave liberties and rights to the citizens of France. First step in a democratically society. This is important for France because it gave the people rights which they didn't have before.
  • Women's March on Versailles

    The French were starving after bad harvests. Women became hungry and mad and marched to the king and queen and demanded that they live with the people. they killed guards and actually made the king come back to Paris. This is important for France because it shows what people are willing to do for change.
  • Royal Fight to Varennes

    The King was scared of where the revolution was going and scared for his safety. He fled with his family from Paris and tried to reach Austria. He was found at the boarder by guards and returned home and got in trouble with the assembly. This is important because they finally were taking control of their king.
  • French Revolutionary Wars 1792-1802

    France was feared by many other nations because of the rebellion they faced in their country. Napoleon helped carve territories for France. They sold territories to the Americans to fight against the Spanish and British. This is important because the French Revolution spread to other countries in Europe leading to the ends of absolute monarchy.
  • Execution of King Louis XVI

    France was under attack from is enemies and nervous about their safety. They saw the king as a traitor and hated him for it. The king was charged with Treason and killed with the French made guillotine. This is Important because the king was holding back the revolution and didn't support France so he needed to get removed.
  • Reign of Terror

    1793-94 was the reign of terror consisting of 12 members of parliament who made the national committee. They were tasked with getting rid of rebels in the country. They killed over 40,000 people total. this is important because the revolution beat the reign of terror.
  • Coup of 18th Brumaire

    5 members were added to government then after corruption were replaced. A council was elected and a coup was planned by napoleon. Many regard this coup as one of the last events in the French Revolution.
