    The struggle for womens political rights afther almost a century began in France during that revolution. lts protagonists denounced that liberty, equality and frathernity only referred to men. One of the most energetic voices of protest was of Olimpia de Gouges, author of the Declaration of the Rights of womend and Citizents, a document in witch she declared for women the seme political rights enjoyed by men, incluiding the right to vote.

    The first womens rights convention in te Unitate States was held in Seneca Falls, New York. The ideals of freedom and equality found their plastic expression thought women as symbos of purity, innocence and joustice in a petition for male rights.

    The firlst revelant action of English suffragism was the action carried out by Jhon Stuart Mill in 1866 in Parliament where he presented a petition signed by 1,500 women who demanded that the suffrage reform begin debated at that time should include women's suffrage. At thata time only heads of households and landowners had the right to vote.

    The most prominent leader of Eanglesh Suffragism was Emmeline Pankhyurst, a memeber of the Burghers, who faunded the WSPU (Womens, socyal and political Union) in Manchester. She became and icon for suffrage at the beguinning of the 20th century in Eangland because she led many violent movements claiming this right by force. She was like the Matriarch.

    In 1946 in newely liberted Frnace granted women the right to vote, witchhad been rejected by Parliament in 1919 and 1992. Suffrage was an implicit recognition of women s role in the Resistance.
    The firsts European countries to allow the right vote were Finland, Norway and Swece.
