One Direction formed
One Direction was formed by Simon Cowell after all the boys of the group - Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Liam Payne all tried to be solo boys artists but weren't strong enough on their own. Simon however didn't want talent to go to waste so he put them together as a group in Xfactor and mentored them throughout.
